The program includes guest performances by the Enochs High School Orchestra.

The evening’s program opens with Georges Bizet’s L’Arlesienne Suite No. 1. Also slated for performance are The Hungarian March by Hector Berlioz and Variations on a Theme by Haydn composed by Johannes Brahms.

The MJC Community Orchestra dedicates their performance of the Bach Chorale from the Easter Cantata to violinist, Diana Perier who passed away in March 2018. Perier graduated from MJC with an Associate of Arts in Music in 1971. She rejoined the Community Orchestra in 1990 and was a valuable leader in the group for the past 28 years, never missing a rehearsal. The orchestra members mourn the loss and celebrate the life of a beloved and talented colleague through this dedication.

The Orchestra is proud to present Marissa Staffero as the soloist in J. C. Bach’s Viola Concerto in C minor. Staffero is a senior at Pitman High School. She studies viola with Anne Martin and will attend University of the Pacific next year on scholarship.

The Enochs High School Orchestra, under the direction of Phil Vallejo, is performing works by Bach, Caccini and Turner.

The concert concludes with A Beatles Medley. The arrangement by Manny Mendelson features music composed by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, including Eleanor Rigby, Yesterday, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and When I’m Sixty-Four. The audience is invited to wear tie dye threads and get their groove on!

The MJC Community Orchestra membership includes college and high school students, teachers, local professional musicians, business owners, a lawyer, a farm manager, an engineer, an anesthesiologist and a pilot! The orchestra invites the community to celebrate music by attending the spring concert.
