Live Theater?

We’ve got that. Whether it’s a Broadway touring show at The Gallo Center for the Arts, SLaM on Rye (the poetry slam competition) or a Tony Award winner performed at the Prospect Theater Project, you have options.

Performing Arts?

Whether it’s the Modesto Symphony Orchestra, Opera Modesto or Central West Ballet there’s always a reason to dress up for an incredible night in town.

Public Murals?

Modesto’s got that…by the dozens. From the alleys of downtown to the walking trails of West Modesto there are murals galore. In downtown tour the unique mix of modern masters who participate in the annual DoMo Walls, or see the murals of art celebrating the region’s agricultural heritage and American Graffiti car culture. Throughout the city follow the mural trail downside streets, behind shops and even on the public trails. Modesto’s murals are truly a sight to see!

Live Music; Country or Rock – Punk or Hip Hop?

Live music is a staple in Modesto. With a vibrant music culture, Modesto offers live music just about every night of the week. And, the region’s diverse population is reflected in the styles of music from Latin urban to blues and from rock to reggaetón you can find it here.

From Music in the Plaza every Friday May through September to Rockin’ Holidays in December downtown’s 10th Street Plaza offers free concerts. There’s even the nation’s longest performing community orchestra performing outdoor free concerts in Graceada Park weekly during the early summer.

Comedy?

Sure, there’s local comedy at several local clubs and then Modesto’s Gallo Center for the Arts has hosted the likes of Lewis Black, Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias and the Ladies of Laughter tour.

Galleries and Art Shows?

Peruse the Mistlin Gallery featuring new exhibits monthly or try the Third Thursday Art Walk every month of the year as you wine, dine and tour downtown’s eclectic art galleries. There are even art classes for couples, kids or with friends and a cocktail or two at several studios.

Festivals?

Modesto loves to celebrate! Try Porchfest where dozens of homes host local musicians on their front porch – all on the same day – walk block to block and street to street to hear them all! Maybe your preference is Mardi Gras or St. Patrick’s Day Lucky Fest. Or maybe, it’s a fall celebration of Día de Los Muertos in the streets of downtown. There’s SantaCon, PatioFest, Picnic at the Pops (on the grounds of E&J Gallo every September), Modesto Unplugged – a weekend of live music events and so much more!
