Flash Imaging with X-Ray Lasers
Biophysical Chemist Megan Shelby, Ph.D., joined the Biosciences and Biotechnology Division at LLNL as a Postdoctoral fellow. Physicist Matthias Frank, Ph.D., is the group leader of the Advanced Diagnostics and Instrumentation Group in the Physics Division of the Physical & Life Sciences Directorate at LLNL.abstract
Proteins are nature’s machines performing tasks throughout the body. Using ultra-bright, ultrafast X-ray pulses allows the measurement of proteins in action through use of “molecular movies.”
Plus: Honey, I Shrunk The Kids (PG-1989) This Disney comedy stars Rick Moranis as an absent-minded inventor who leaves his latest creation, a shrinking ray, unattended in his attic. When the ray is accidentally triggered by his kids, they’re reduced to tiny tots and tossed out with the trash.
