ABOUT US

Visit Modesto is the public brand name representing The Modesto Convention and Visitors Bureau, Inc. (CVB), a 501C6 California Corporation. Formed in 2002, the CVB is a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) with the specific purposes of “1) To attract visitors to the area by promoting and marketing Modesto as a convention, sports, tourism, and leisure travel destination; (2) to provide coordination and leadership for the community and the visitor industry on matters relating to convention activity and tourism; (3) to gather community information designed to convey to opinion leaders and the public at large the status of the visitor industry; and  (4) to work with local governmental agencies, private enterprise and other interested parties to structure suitable financing plans for the Corporation, and to implement those plans.”[1]

As the City’s only tourism organization, Visit Modesto works with all hospitality entities from lodging to dining, to the arts and agriculture, as well as businesses/organizations that service or provide tourism related services. In addition, Visit Modesto is a close partner with the City of Modesto, Stanislaus County, and the many community business organizations servicing the region.

Funding for Visit Modesto comes from two primary sources. One source is via a contract with the City of Modesto, to provide promotion and marketing of Modesto for visitor activities. The other primary revenue source is through the Modesto Tourism Marketing District where Visit Modesto serves as the Owner’s Association[2] for the district and fees are collected by lodging businesses from overnight guests.

The Modesto Convention and Visitors Bureau, Inc. was formed in July of 2002 and is a California Nonprofit Corporation (C2469839).
