Outdoor Lovers Travel

Kayak or canoe the Tuolumne River or Raft the Stanislaus…especially in the beginning of November to watch the salmon spawn!  Run, walk, or hike the Dry Creek Trail – over six miles of paved trails on the creek just outside of downtown – or the Virginia Trail a converted railway line.  Trail Ride the Tuolumne River Trail, home to the NorCal Cycling races along the Tuolumne River just outside of downtown.  Take a metric century on your road bike riding between almond orchards, over covered bridges, along rivers and in rolling hills.  Bring your fly gear and hit the lower Sierras for some brook trout or haul your OHV and hit the trails outside of town.

  • Take the Almond Blossom Cruise (seasonal) or Ag Cruise

      • Our Wayfarer Audio Tour guides you through the region from Farm Stands to Covered Bridges and from Olive Oil Tastings to Almond Butter Milkshakes. All the while you’ll be listening to interviews from locals – like stories about Ernest and Julio Gallo and how the Legend of Zorro is founded in our history.
      • The Ag Cruise takes you on a similar journey and adds in berry picking, farmers markets, fresh honey and even some orchard walks
  • Head to Yosemite National Park! Grab breakfast, stop at a farmstand for you day snacks and leave by 10, be staring up at Half Dome by noon and picnic on the valley floor. You’ll still be back in downtown before sunset for dinner at Camp 4 in Modesto!
