Travel the World at the International Heritage Festival
Travel the world at the 30th International Heritage Festival. This free family event runs 10 am to 4 pm. The opening ceremony is at 11 am and features a colorful parade of flags with participants in international dress, Katie Overton from Opera Modesto, the Johansen High School Jazz Combo, and even a special appearance by Betsy Ross. Enjoy music and dances from Mexico, Egypt, and the Chinese Lion Dance, and more. Come face to face with Vikings! Children can visit heritage booths with their passport coloring books to collect stamps and stickers. And, of course, kids can make many crafts. Visit an instrument petting zoo and first responders. Sample tasty dishes from Puerto Rico and Italian desserts. Celebrate international heritage and our shared American heritage. The festival is presented with support from the Modesto Parks, Recreation and Neighborhoods Department, E&J Gallo Winery, The River 105.5, Mr. and Mrs. Malagon, and the volunteers from the International Heritage Festival.
