Who doesn’t love brunch? The combination of sweet and savory dishes can’t be beat, plus it’s an excuse to drink champagne in the morning – that’s what I call a win-win! If you love brunch too, then you’re in luck! We’ve compiled some of the best spots in and around Modesto for your brunching pleasure.
There’s something for everyone in this list: spots with a chill vibe for a laid back brunch, places with DJs on deck and crazy drinks so you feel like you’re having a brunch party, and our tried-and-true local institutions that are beloved for their amazing food and excellent customer service.

Surla’s: “They finally have their brunch buffet back once a month (every last Sunday)! I missed the brunch at Surla’s, so I was extremely excited that it started back up again this year. Not only is it a buffet, but there are different stations set up for you to peruse. This is the only place I’ve been to that serves a full brunch buffet, so not only is the food delicious, but you can go back for seconds (and thirds)!” – Elyse
Harvest Moon: “Harvest Moon is beloved by locals for a reason. The food & drinks don’t disappoint, and the staff is lovely.”– Kate
Velvet Grill & Creamery: “Nothing beats a diner-style brunch and Velvet Creamery is my family’s go-to spot! There’s something for everyone on the menu, including my personal favorite, the Chipotle Cream and Black Bean Breakfast Burrito! And don’t be shy about adding a shake or float to your brunch selection. Shakes are the perfect way to add decadence to this fun and comfort-laden meal in this diner-esque atmosphere!” – Kristin
The Secret Garden: “Prepare to have your mind blown with the cutest presentation & adorable diner vibes.”– Kate
Commonwealth: “An awesome beer selection to go with tour brunch is something my husband really appreciates! Their fresh food selection ranges from lighter choices to true indulgences, including the Waffle Madame which is TO DIE FOR. I’m also a huge fan of the rich and delicious SOS, made with a homemade cheddar biscuit and homemade sausage patties, but you will definitely want to ensure you have a comfy place to slip into a food coma after this one!” – Elyse
Squeeze In: “This place is cute and very groovy! They have tons of options including vegetarian and vegan. Go see why they claim their place to be ‘the happiest place in Motown.’” – Kate
Delicioso by Mr. & Mrs.: “This local gem is an awesome low-key spot for brunch with live music on Sundays. They rotate musicians, so there’s a different musical vibe depending on when you go, and the menu is full of fresh and delicious options!” – Anthony
The Farmacy: “This place is seriously GORGEOUS and it’s an amazing healthy option! They have vegan choices and everything is fresh and delicious. If you want a brunch that re-energizes you and doesn’t leave you in a food coma later, then this spot is for you!” – Kristin
Wildfire Public House: “Brunch Pizza. I don’t think any other words are needed to convince you to try out their brunch! But if you need more of a reason, it’s a fun ambiance every time I visit this restaurant, and if you go during football season, there are plenty of TVs so you can watch the games while you brunch.” – Kate
Twisted Pig: “If you’re looking for a fun brunch place with indulgent dishes, you’ve found your spot! Their R&B brunch is a vibe best enjoyed with their Blueberry Bacon Pancakes or Cereal Killer Pancakes and bottomless mimosas. No need to be shy at this vibrant spot, so indulge in delicious food and enjoy the fun atmosphere!” – Elyse
Get Toasted: “Not only do they have fresh and tasty food (MULTIPLE types of toast), but they have seasonal coffee flights and mimosa flights! Plus this spot is adorable, so definitely make it a girl’s day and get ready for some cute group pics.” – Elyse
Chefs of New York: “This place is a loved by locals for good reason. You can’t find ebilskivers everywhere, but you will find warm and fluffy ones here! There’s also a menu full of tried and true breakfast favorites, so everyone is sure to find something that sounds delicious.” – Anthony
My Mimosas: “Turn up at 10am? Not a problem here!”– Kate
Agave Azul: “Coming here requires a trip out to Hughson if you’re not close, but it’s worth it for the food and the service! This place is very popular with locals, so I would definitely recommend a reservation. They have bottomless mimosas and other amazing drinks, including margarita flights. I love having a bottomless mimosa with hibiscus and pineapple juice and ordering their Azteca Benedict with chorizo – and they are on top of their mimosa refills!” – Elyse
Churchkey: “Every once in awhile, Church Tiki comes alive downtown & it’s always worth popping in for the special occasion.” – Kate
Memo’s Cocina & Tequila Bar: “Brunch at Memo’s is the perfect marriage of fun and flavor to entice and excite anyone. My personal favorites are the Mexican Skillet, with a hint of heat, paired with the Jamaica Mimosa, which is a light but lovely Hibiscus flavor. And did I mention they have bottomless mimosas in a mimosa decanter? Call your pals and make plans today. You can thank me later for the recommendation.” – Kristin
Lucille: “A newer addition to downtown, but it is quickly becoming a local hot spot. This is an amazingly chill and cool place for a quick Saturday brunch to-go. They have scrumptious homemade pastries and some main breakfast staples, including the mouth-watering Benny on a Bun. Definitely give this new spot a try!” – Elyse
