One Thing; Pandemic Thought of the Day
One Thing. Remember Curly in City Slickers? He told Mitch that you only need to focus on "One thing. Just one thing. You stick to that and the rest don’t mean sh-t."
There’s a business lesson there we can all consider very seriously in these trying times. Actually, there may be two or three, but let’s keep it simple and focus on your business and your customer.
First, your business; What is that one thing your business provides? Now’s the time to really dig down and determine specifically what that is and truly focus on making that brilliant. Yes, your business may provide multiple services and products but what is ‘that one thing’ you can hang your hat on and really impact the credibility of your business? You’ve got some time on your hands between all the crisis management to ask yourself, and your team, that question. Once you get the answer it’s time to have a real strategy session about how to re-ignite interest in ‘that one thing’ in a post-crisis business world.
Now, think about your customers; What is one thing you can do to have a positive impact on your existing client base? It could have been as simple as providing them links to the PPP and EIDL applications. It could be sending them a credit, a book, a box of toilet paper or just lending an ear. Your clients will remember ‘how’ you acted, and more importantly re-acted, during this crisis. Lives are on the line and businesses are on the line...what kind of business person will you be remembered as? They’ll remember... and if you are calm, rational, mature, empathetic, thoughtful and kind they will be your best future advertising platform. More importantly it’s the right thing to do!
So, go for it and find ‘That One Thing’.
